Artist Statement

My practice is based on the unpredictable events of life, and as I continue to reflect on the fleeting moments when they occur, I find that there is a subtle trigger for many things to happen and then spiral out of control.

I have attempted to abstract this trigger into a surreal artistic expression that questions the delusion that people try to control everything with rationality. It also explores the transient nature of concrete events that occur and then fade away, and their continuing impact on the outside world.

I am obsessed with building structures and my methodology is used to deconstructing figurative things and then reconstructing them into abstract forms. I also use contradictory materials to express my art.  This work uses seemingly solid materials such as clay, wire and glue to build strange landscapes and life beings to present a surreal situation that hides infinite unknowns and uncertainties. In this way, I mix, condense and solidify moments of chance, environmental coincidences and the chaotic movements of the scene, and organise the thoughts and feelings of the people involved around it.
